Tioga-Lawrenceville falls to Wellsboro, 17-2
Wellsboro Little League Baseball started District 15 Championship play as they took on Tioga-Lawrenceville on Wednesday June 28th. Where were fireworks in the first inning, and it started with a two run bomb from Tioga’s Trent Hackett to give them the lead. It didn’t take long for Wellsboro to come back, with a monster inning.
Conner Adams got things started as he scored on a wild throw. Then Darren Callahan went yard-reaching the deficit to put Wellsboro up, 3-2.
Three batters later, Payton McClure hit a dinger to centerfield that brought in Cameron Brought and Blake Hamblin, 5-2.
After McClure scored on a passed ball, Caden Smith tallied another run with a base hit that scored Matthew Keister to give Wellsboro a 7-2 lead.
The first inning fireworks finished with Darren Callahan once again going back and gone. At the end of the first inning, the score was 10-2.
Wellsboro would add 7 more runs in the 3rd and to bring home the victory 17-2 in 3 1/2 innings.
