The Weekly Highlights are a great way to catch up, but don’t forget that you can always watch the full stories from either our front page or the archives section.

Laurel Festival 2018 | Part 1
June 9 through June 17, Tioga County celebrated the 77th Annual Pennsylvania State Laurel Festival in Wellsboro, PA. As one of the county’s biggest events of the year, thousands of attendees bustled about town – enjoying the many activities, sights, sounds and treats of the festival.

Today’s feature highlights some of the vendors and people showcasing their skills and wares during the Juried Arts & Crafts Fair on Friday, June 16. Locals and out-of-towners alike displayed their goods on The Green in Wellsboro, from delicious foods to breathtaking art – there’s something for everyone at this open air market.
Laurel Festival 2018 | Part 2
Every year, thousands of people gather in beautiful Wellsboro, Pennsylvania for a weekend full of vendors, music, food, the 10k race, and much more, as we come together to celebrate the beloved Laurel Festival. Today, we are presenting part two of our Laurel Festival highlights, which includes the parade and the Laurel Queen Coronation ceremony.

The parade features everything from music performances to floats of all sizes carrying beautiful queens. Fortunately, the weather this weekend was perfect for all the outdoor happenings, including a unity church service on the Green to end the weekend.
Becoming Best Dressed
“I love the opportunity to get dressed up,” Sara Pease said of the stunning Dickens ensemble she wore at the 2017 Best Dressed Contest. The intricate, seven-piece outfit inspired by the 1850’s weighs 35 pounds and incorporates an astounding 63 yards of ruffles.

Sara lives in Crab Orchard, WV and often returns to PA to visit family. This daring sewing project was launched after her aunt, Libby Occhino suggested in 2015 she get involved in a Dickens event at Linck Hill in Morris, PA. With the help of Karen Snuffer (who made 3 pieces) Sara was able the create an inspiring & historically accurate Dickens costume from authentic reproduction patterns.
We’re Off to the See the Wizard!
There’s no place like home, but after watching the Hamilton Gibson summer camp performance of The Wizard of Oz, you will certainly be glad you went! Performances are on Thursday June 21 or Friday June 22 at 7:30 pm at the Clark Wood Elementary School auditorium in Elkland. Admission is “pay what you can.” Reservations are not necessary.
Back to Basics – Decisions, Decisions
Not all decisions are created equal. Some will require more attention and care than others. But, the tools I’m about to share are meant to help you make any decision no matter how big or small.

Principle #1:
Don’t be anxious. It is easy to become overwhelmed and filled with anxiety when a decision needs to be made. Resist the temptation to fear and trust God to lead you. In Philippians 4 we are instructed not to be anxious, but to pray. Prayerfully commit your thoughts to the Lord and trust Him.

Principle #2:
Ask God for wisdom. In the Bible in the book of James, chapter 1, we learn that God generously gives wisdom to His followers when they ask.

Principle #3:
Get counsel. The book of Proverbs teaches that there is wisdom in many counselors. Ask a variety of counselors for wisdom and carefully consider their input.

Principle #4:
Delight yourself in the Lord. We were created for God’s glory and all of our decisions are meant to showcase the wisdom of God. As you delight in Him your desires will be more in tune with His will and your decisions will reflect that.
