Hornets finally slay Green Dragons
For the first time in head coach Todd Outman’s career the Wellsboro Varsity Boys Basketball team topped Lewisburg.
“It was a great game, first time we’ve ever beaten them and that was in the back of our minds,” Outman said. “The kids just played well today. They shot the ball well and we didn’t have a lot of turnovers.”
“I thought it was a great game for Quinn,” Outman said about Henry. “He’s been struggling a little bit shooting the three, finishing layups and has had a few too many turnovers, but he played a great game today. Having Dalton Prough back is a huge advantage for us. He did awesome again today. I thought Tanner Button coming off the bench playing their best player the way he did in man-to-man was huge as well.
Step Outdoors for Winter Outings!
Step Outdoors in the new year for a First Day Hike!
These hikes are designed to be easier, slower-paced, family hikes for almost any age. There are exceptions, but more about that later. Hikes are taking place on January 1, 2018 at Hills Creek State Park at 1pm, Lyman Run State Park at 12pm and Sinnemahoning State Park at 12pm. No registration is required, but you do need to get up off the coach or push away from those holiday leftovers! Watch the forecast and dress for the weather, in layers, wear sturdy boots, and consider at least water or even a snack to reward younger (or older?) legs along the journey. If there’s snow or ice out there, bring equipment along if you have it. Otherwise, parks will provide a limited number of snowshoes or boot traction devices.
North Penn-Liberty wallops Wellsboro, 64-3
The North Penn-Liberty Wrestling team nearly swept rival Wellsboro on Tuesday, December 19.
The Mounties won all but one match en route to a 64-3 Northern Tier League win.
The win improves the Mounties to 2-0 and the year, while the Hornets fall to 0-2. The Hornets will be back on the mats on Thursday, December 21 at Sullivan County.
North Penn-Liberty is at the Bob Rohm Tournament on December 29.
Back to Basics – The Greatest Gift
Do you remember the magic of Christmas? When I was a child I could hardly sleep on Christmas Eve because my mind was awake — filled with the hope of what I might find underneath the tree the next day. On Christmas morning, my sister and I would often wake up before daylight — and run down the hall to find presents of all shapes and sizes with our names written on the tags. Now — imagine yourself in that moment…
You run to the tree, pick out a present, pull of the bow — tear open the paper — lift open the box… and look inside to see… nothing there.
Movin’ Together – The Tool of Time
During this season of giving, we reflect on a new tool for our Movin’ Together Healthy Tool Basket: the tool of Time. The subject of Time is discussed often, as it affects all of us. But, as Zig Ziglar states, “Lack of direction, not lack of time, is the problem. We all have 24 hour days.” This brutally honest reminder points us in the direction of focusing on the value of our given time, and how we spend it.
Spending some quality time with a friend, acquaintance or loved one may make all the difference this Christmas. Facebook, texting and email are all convenient and valuable forms of correspondence, but nothing takes the place of a good, old-fashion visit. Is there someone that comes to your mind? Someone that may need some company or encouragement this time of year? Giving the gift of your quality time may make all the difference for them this Christmas!
