Police Chief Jim Bodine answers YOUR questions!

On this week’s briefing with Chief Jim Bodine we asked the chief some viewer-submitted questions.

The first question we asked the Chief concerned the taxi service here in the area. Curt Schramm asked “Is the taxi service in Wellsboro having an impact on D.U.I stops in the borough?” Chief stated that it is working – people are utilizing the service especially after a night out on the town. Chief Bodine did say that it is still a little early to see the true impact of the service.

The second question was also from Curt Schramm. He asked “What should an ordinary citizen do if he sees or suspects drug activity here in the area?” The first thing you should do is call the police and never try to take matters into your own hands. Secondly, getting a good identification of any cars involved is helpful. Color, description, and a license plate number go a long way to help the authorities when identifying a potential drug offender.

The third question came from Ronda Brill. “There has been talk recently about marked increase in drug abuse in our area. Are you finding this to be true in the schools as well?” There hasn’t been a higher number of arrests, but the situation is being battled with education, seminars, and making the parents aware of the warning signs, as well as making sure they know about their child’s lifestyle.
