Hit the autumn ground running with the trail run challenge at Ives Run!
The beauty of fall is here, and Tioga County is one of the best places in the state to see it! Ives Run Recreation Area is no exception, and offers a variety of trails and resting areas to admire the gorgeous colorful autumn foliage. On today’s feature, Outdoor Adventures correspondent Tim Morey explores one of these trails and presents a family-friendly challenge – coming this Sunday! Tim caught up with Coleen Evert of the Tioga County Partnership for Community Health to learn more about this event.
The Trail Challenge at Ives Run Recreation Area is a course of about 4 miles in length incorporating a variety of terrain, from steep and narrow to wide and flat; it utilizes portions of the Lynn Keller, the Stephenhouse, and the Archery trails. Whether you’re a competitor with your sights set on heating up the course with your blazing speed or a someone of a more laid-back nature with the intent of enjoying some camaraderie and the beautiful setting of Ives Run, there’s a place for you at the Trail Challenge. Runners and walkers, and people of all ages are welcome to participate. Adding to the enjoyment of the day will be a ride on a trolley (Tony’s Tioga Trolley Tours) shuttling participants to the start of the course. There may be a delicious prize in store for you at the end! Watch the video feature above to learn more, and visit StepOutdoors.org.
