Prayer Rally

Prayer Rally and Service for Opioid Crises – Sunday at 6 PM

by John Vogt – February 22, 2018

Yesterday, February 21, 2018, William Franklin Graham Jr. who is known to the world as Billy Graham went home to be with the Lord. Billy Graham was 99 years old. According to his dear friend Cliff Barrows, Billy Graham stated that the three most important things that mattered most when preparing to speak are prayer, prayer, and prayer. Here are some other essential quotes from Billy Graham regarding the power of prayer.

“In the morning, prayer is the key that opens to us the treasures of God’s mercies and blessings; in the evening, it is the key that shuts us up under His protection and safeguards.”

“True prayer is a way of life, not just for use in cases of emergency. Make it a habit, and when the need arises, you will be in practice.”

“Have you ever said, ‘Well, all we can do now is pray’? … When we come to the end of ourselves, we come to the beginning of God.”

“We are to pray in times of adversity,
lest we become faithless and unbelieving.
We are to pray in times of prosperity,
lest we become boastful and proud.
We are to pray in times of danger,
lest we become fearful and doubting.
We are to pray in times of security,
lest we become self-sufficient.”

“This should be the motto of every follower of Jesus Christ. No matter how dark and hopeless a situation might seem, never stop praying. ”

This Sunday, February 25, 2018, we have the opportunity to come together as a regional community and pray. If there was ever a time to make an all-out effort to be at a critical local event this Sunday night is the night. Drug abuse is a growing problem in our area as the death toll continues to rise. Parents and students are invited to attend a community-wide prayer rally concerning the opioid crisis in Tioga County.

Jesus said, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” Addiction is a horrible thing. The only way to true victory is the power God moving in our lives and the encouragement of those who love and care for us.

Vineyard Church of Wellsboro, The First Presbyterian Church of Wellsboro, the Wellsboro Ministerium, and many other area churches invite you to this community-wide prayer rally concerning the opioid crisis in Tioga County. Join us for a time of music, testimonies, and prayer as we ask God to intervene in the drug addiction that is destroying lives and families. This prayer service is open to all area churches and the community at large. The location is the Wellsboro High School Auditorium this coming Sunday, February 25th at 6 PM. Doors open at 5:30. Refreshments will be served. We hope to see you there.
