Outdoor Adventure correspondent Tim Morey takes us to Ski Sawmill…
Tioga County residents are digging out from the big snow storm. Many are heading to Ski Sawmill in Morris. In today’s feature Tim Morey, our outdoor adventure correspondent visits Ski Sawmill and speaks with Mike Knefley, owner of Ski Sawmill. Mike states that he “loves to watch kids learn to ski. [At Ski Sawmill], we are a great learn-to-ski mountain. We have instructors that can teach from start to finish. We also have a wide variety of slopes on the mountain that will meet anywhere from a beginner to an expert’s needs.” One of the most fun, new trends in the ski industry is the expansion of terrain parks and half pipes, and Sawmill is no exception. They’ve been building their terrain park for quite some time, and tubing hills are also available.
“We have rentals, a full-service cafeteria,” He states, along with a number of other services. “It’s a good opportunity for kids to get off the couch, turn off the video games and turn on to life and experience the great outdoors.”
Tim also speaks with Curt Schramm, expert skier and instructor. Curt first started his skiing experience as a child at Ski Sawmill. Since then, he has skied in many places around the world, including Italy, British Columbia, and all over the United States. Curt remarks, “My favorite thing about Ski Sawmill is that they have the best snow-making and grooming of hills. When you come here, the conditions are stellar. It’s always great skiing.”
