Bank rallies employees, customers, clients, friends and neighbors behind an important cause
When the team at Citizens & Northern Bank launched its “Giving Back, Giving Together” community involvement initiative in March 2015, they never expected the magnitude of the impact it would have on the local community. In its second year of the program, the bank rallied its employees, customers, clients, friends and neighbors behind an important cause – providing support for 52 local volunteer fire and emergency services organizations – and raised over $60,000 across all 8 of its counties of operation.

In addition to their fundraising efforts, C&N employees volunteered their own personal time on 172 separate occasions throughout the year at events supporting the emergency volunteer organizations. They gave generously from their own pockets during C&N Jeans Days, held the last Friday of each month, and customers helped with donations of their own.
Brad Scovill, President and CEO of Citizens & Northern, is pleased by the effort behind the program in its first two years. “The Giving Back, Giving Together program has come to truly embody the values that serve as the foundation for building relationships both within the organization and throughout our network of customers and community members.” He said, “The results of this year’s campaign in support of the local volunteer emergency services organizations were terrific. Not only because we collectively raised over $60,000 to help meet the need, but we also strengthened so many relationships throughout our communities that will last for many years to come.”
Giving Back, Giving Together continues into 2017 and this year C&N will support 18 local organizations that have made it their mission to help underprivileged children in our area. The goal is to make a difference and provide funding for these organizations to afford the supplies and programming they need to fulfill their missions. Charity Frantz, Director of Marketing at C&N, said, “We’ve set another aggressive goal this year of raising $60,000 for local children in need and I believe we can do it. Our employees, customers and neighbors have been so supportive of our efforts and I know they’ll be passionate about this year’s cause.”
